Electric hair trimmer comb sizes Guide

Understanding Comb Length of Electric Clipper
What is comb length?
In fact, the comb length is the actual length left after the hair is pushed by the electric clippers. Usually we look at millimeters (mm), like 3mm and 6mm. Occasionally, an inch (inch) mark is used, such as 1/8 inch, which is basically 3mm. The brand is different, the standard method may be a little different, but the meaning is the same, that is, to tell you how long your hair can be cut.
Why is comb length so important?
To put it bluntly, just a few points:
Directly determine the length of the hair: do you want a very short plate size, or want to leave some length? Choose the right comb teeth, the length is set.
Affect the shape and fineness: for example, if you want to make a natural gradual change, you must change from the small size comb to the large one, otherwise the effect will be very stiff and even not good-looking. This is directly related to whether your hairstyle is professional enough.
Common comb size and purpose
1mm – 3mm (very short/welt):
Purpose: Oh, this thing is to engage in “limit! Think of bald head, inch head, how to play without it? And those hairline, sideburns, to be as painted, you have to use it. Men trim beard edges, want that share “sharp strength”, also can’t do without this inch caliper. Even if you want to make your hair almost invisible, it will do.
Features: Simply put-“net” and “quasi”, like a ruler over the same!
6mm (short hair/short beard):
Purpose: Many friends like short hair, but they don’t want to be as short as they just came back from the army. That 6mm is just right. As we often say “bullet head”, this length is quite in place. Short beards need to be trimmed, want to be a little shaped but not too exaggerated, it can also be done. Chest hair, armpit hair and so on, trim to maintain the natural length, not too wild.
Features: length, looking at nature, will not appear too leng.
9mm – 12mm (medium length/trim gradient):
Purpose: Men want to have a little sense of style, short and medium hair, 9 to 12mm can play tricks. The beard needs a little length to support the scene, and this interval is also very well controlled. The most important thing is to do a gradual hairstyle, it is a “golden oil”! After a short push, use it to make a transition, and the effect will come out in one go.
Features: flexible, can engage in a variety of modeling, especially gradual change, it is the “rescue artifact”!
15mm – 25mm (longer hairs/large trim):
Purpose: Those who don’t want to cut too short, or want to leave some long hair, such as bangs want to be fluffy, or the head length, this size is very comfortable. Long beard to trim neatly, but don’t want to cut off too much, it can also be easily taken off. Large areas of body hair, to retain a little “coverage”, with it is right.
Features: Suitable for those who want to retain long hair length, or “afraid of short” customers.
No comb/0mm (bare knife trimming):
Purpose: This is our clipper’s “trump card”, directly on the cutter head! Extreme short hair, bald head, in addition to it no second. There are also hairlines and sideburns, which require absolutely “sharp” edge lines without calipers to produce that kind of “murderous look”. A shave can also be used, but with a steady hand.
Note: Remember, this thing is directly attached to the skin. You must be careful in operation. If you shake your hand 1, you may “overturn”, repair or scratch. Novice, I advise you not to easily “challenge”.

Comb size, how to choose?
Want me to say, choose comb size? Simple, it depends on where you are going to cut and what you want to cut.
Hair length:
The bald head/inch head party: want to get naked, or the kind of ultra-short inch that can see the scalp? That is basically 1-6mm these gears. Sometimes if a customer really wants to shave, I may go straight to 1mm or even go straight to the battle “shirtless” (without combing my teeth). If you want to keep a short inch of spirit, 2mm, 3mm, 6mm will do, depending on how short you like.
Daily short hair: most of the buddies’ daily short hair, like those with short sides and short heads, basically wander around in the range of 6-12mm. This length is refreshing, but also can toss point shape. I usually start from 9mm, and then fine-tune according to hair quality and customer requirements.
Want to grow?: If you plan to grow long hair, or just want to trim the tips and thin it, then a comb over 15mm can come in handy. However, to tell the truth, I am more accustomed to using scissors or scissors at this length, which is also an aid.
Gradient this craft: this is a technical job! My experience is that from the bottom up, the comb teeth have to change slowly to the length. For example, sideburns and hairline use 3mm first, then 6mm upward, and finally 9mm or 12mm to connect the top. Only in this way can we make that kind of natural transition and not look like a “one size fits all” green head 1.
A few words from the stylist
Push the direction: remember this golden rule: push against the hair growth, the best effect. In this way, the blade can eat the hair firmly and cut it evenly and cleanly. Push along? That’s probably not pushing, and it’s easy to get stuck in your hair and struggle.
Be diligent and clean: every time you use it up, don’t be too troublesome. comb teeth and cutter head must be cleaned well. Broken hair has been piled up there for a long time. It will be astringent when used next time. The key is that it is easy to hide dirt. A small brush brush, or can flush, really don’t save trouble.
Oil must be on! The cutter head is the heart of the clipper! Want to keep it sharp and smooth? Regular oiling is a must. I usually drop one or two drops of special lubricating oil after using it several times, and then let it idle for a few seconds, and the oil will disperse. This is the key to prolong the life of the clipper, and it is also comfortable to cut.
Practice your hands, don’t worry: no one is born to cut hair, and so was I when I first learned it. Clipping this thing, to put it bluntly, is practice makes perfect. Give yourself more, or find friends and family to practice your hands. Slowly, you will be able to understand the temper of different combs, and all kinds of skills will be mastered naturally. What are you afraid of if you make a mistake? The hair will grow back!
